Our dog Rosie is an expert at entering the rest. Nothing bothers her when it is rest time. She can rest without a care in the world. I have learned a valuable lesson from Rosie. Rest (without a care in the world) is a key ingredient to the peace I need after I have prayed in faith with right motives and to the best of my ability. I find that the next battle step is to “Enter the Rest”. I recently shared with the congregation one method of entering the rest that works well for me. It is to go to my “happy place”. I discovered my happy place when my wife and I used to travel on the road for 10 to 15 hours at a time with a crying two year old in the car. Driving under that condition was stressful to say the least.
But I soon learned that I could go to my “happy place” and shut out all external noise and voices and find peace…a peace that transcended all understanding (especially to my wife).
This ability now comes in handy when I have prayed and the enemy tries to come at me with lies to steal the word that God has given me regarding the prayers I have prayed. I simply re-quote the appropriate scripture of promise, remind the devil of his future when he tries to remind me of my past, and then promptly return to my happy place of “REST” in the word of God without a care in the world.
I believe this is what the bible describes as laboring to “Enter the Rest”! (Hebrews 4:11)
Thank you Rosie!
