Immediately after the Resurrection of Jesus there was much confusion among the disciples. Initial doubts and fears circulated among them about whether the impossible could really be true. It would take much time for Jesus’ closest followers and the early church to process what this earth shattering event really meant to all of them. Knowing the reality of Jesus’ demonstration of power and authority by rising from the dead, they all were confronted with a “What now?”
In Matthew 28, Jesus summed it up in His Great Commission before He ascended. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
All authority has been given. We have His authority to go into all the world and preach the Good News. Let there be no doubt or confusion to believers some 2000 years later. We have been supernaturally blessed and anointed to love this world back into reconciliation with God.
After all the chocolate is gone and the Easter bunny baskets are put back into the attic, the obvious question is before each one of us…”What Now?”
